You are totally correct, a big chunk (if not most) of the wow factor will come from the software --think first wave of iPhone, while touch-screens were already a well-established technology, but with no OS really taking advantage of them. One bullet point I would suggest adding is the need to ease embedded software development and HW/SW co-verification and integration, given that software will be the primary differentiator for many of the emerging products shown at CES.
